Industry News Roundup as US gambling revenue soars
A highly robust start to the new year has been consolidated by further wider industry news that is spreading like wildfire.
Certainly, 2024 for the online gambling industry and gambling sector in general looks set to continue to break multiple fiscal records across many markets and there seems to be no slowing down.
This is a statement that can certainly be accredited to the US gambling market, which has reported that figures for 2023 spiralled to beyond a record $66.5 billion in revenue for 2023.
As such, the breakdown meant that for the fourth quarter of the year, $17.4 billion was recorded in total revenue figures, with most of this being attributed to the major sports across the many states where online betting is available, with the Thanksgiving weekend and the festive period being hailed as the main drivers here.
It is hoped and also believed that 2024 will beat this figure, especially considering that more states have passed legislation for online casino and online sports betting, meaning that the country could take its predicted place as the most lucrative market in the industry.
NetBet launches in Denmark
Reputable iGaming brand NetBet has announced that it will launch in the Baltic country of Denmark immediately, after it was granted an iGaming license.
The country has been hailed as one of the more progressive online gambling markets in Europe in the last couple of years and NetBet is ideally primed to take advantage of this.
The brand is already a permanent fixture in a number of European markets, including Italy, the UK and Germany, and this latest development will see its brand authority augment even more considerably.
Betsson to move into Netherlands
It is understood that the online gambling company, Betsson has agreed in principal, a deal to acquire Holland Gaming Technology Ltd and Holland Gaming B.V for €27.5 million as it bids to acquire a Dutch gaming license.
The deal was understood to have been agreed in mid-February and it will further enhance the increasingly growing brand of Betsson, which launched in neighbouring Belgium last year.
It is understood that this latest news has been greeted with optimism as it attempts to flex its muscles in one of the most progressive online gambling markets in Europe.
